Quick answer
Our San Francisco couriers carry legal packages by hand to wherever they're due: the Civic Center Courthouse on McAllister, the Hall of Justice on Bryant, opposing counsel or a client. Choose a standing route, an on-demand run or an urgent pickup, and each delivery ends with a signed receipt listing recipient, date and time.
Messenger Service in San Francisco, CA
San Francisco is compact, about 47 square miles of land, but its legal work is concentrated in a few dense blocks around the Civic Center and the Financial District. That density is exactly why sending a staffer to make a drop goes sideways so often. A run downtown eats an afternoon in traffic; a courthouse closes its counter before your assistant arrives; parking near the destination costs an hour on its own. Any of those turns a quick errand into a lost workday.
On-Call Legal picks up at your office and hand-delivers wherever the job has to go, and we plan the route before a driver rolls. Rush, on-demand and scheduled runs each fit a different deadline, so you tell us the cutoff and we match it. We keep the package tracked the whole way, because knowing where a document is at any moment is the difference between a smooth drop and a scramble.
Once the delivery is made, we send back signed proof with the recipient, date, and time. If anything about a pickup changes, you hear from us. Alongside courier runs, the same office serves and files your documents, so a matter can move end to end through one team.
San Francisco Courts & Destinations We Cover
Civic Center Courthouse
Civil, probate and family law; the Civil Clerk’s Office and Civil Records are in Room 103.
Hall of Justice

Juvenile Justice Center
Juvenile justice and juvenile traffic.
The team runs deliveries to the Civic Center Courthouse, the Hall of Justice and the other court locations in the city, plus law offices, clients, and agencies in between. If your destination is not on the list, ask anyway. Our coverage runs citywide.

Why On-Call Legal for Messenger Service in San Francisco
Attorneys and paralegals hiring a San Francisco messenger service care about three things: the package reaching the right hands, getting there on time, and a clean record that it arrived. On-Call Legal picks up and hand-delivers documents by rush, on-demand or scheduled route, and we track every job from pickup to signed drop. When a delivery is confidential, custody is logged at each handoff. Beyond courier runs, the same office serves and files your documents, retrieves records, and prepares subpoenas across San Francisco.
Rush Pickup & Delivery
Standard jobs ride the next scheduled route, and rush jumps to the front of the queue when a drop cannot wait. Tell us the pickup, the destination, and the cutoff, and we route a driver to meet it.
Rush & On-Demand Couriers
When a drop cannot wait for the next route, an on-demand courier goes point to point: straight from your pickup to the destination with nothing else on the run. It is the option to reach for when a signature, a retainer check, or a trial exhibit has to land in someone’s hands as soon as possible.
Citywide San Francisco Coverage
Our drivers reach every corner of the City and County of San Francisco, from the Civic Center Courthouse on McAllister Street to the Hall of Justice on Bryant Street and the Financial District. Tell us where the package starts and where it needs to be, and we confirm the route and the timing before a driver rolls.
Signed Proof of Delivery
You see when the package is picked up, when it is en route, and when it is delivered. Once the drop is made, we return the signed proof of delivery, complete with the recipient’s name, the date, and the time. It is your record that the materials reached the right hands.
Chain of Custody
Confidential filings, checks, and exhibits stay tracked the whole way. We log each handoff from pickup to delivery, noting who released the package and who signed for it, so there is an unbroken record of custody. When a matter calls for proof of exactly where something went, you have it.
Full Litigation Support
One office for the whole job. Alongside courier runs we serve the documents you file, handle filings, retrieve court records, and prepare subpoenas across San Francisco.

Court & Attorney Service Runs
Chambers, opposing counsel, clients, and county agencies are all regular stops on our runs. We drop courtesy copies at a judge’s department, hand packets to another firm, collect signatures, and bring stamped copies back for your file. Anything that moves between your office and the courthouse, a driver carries.
Courtesy Copies to Departments 301 and 302
San Francisco requires paper courtesy copies of documents that need a judge’s review, action or signature, delivered directly to the judge’s department under Local Rule 2.7(B). For law and motion, Local Rule 8.2(b) has the moving party bring a courtesy copy to the Law and Motion Department after filing, and a matter can be taken off calendar if that step is missed.
Odd case numbers go to Department 301 and even case numbers to Department 302, both at the Civic Center Courthouse, as the court’s Law & Motion and Discovery page explains.
Ex Parte Papers Due Two Hours Before 11:00 a.m.
Law and motion ex parte hearings in San Francisco are held daily at 11:00 a.m. by CourtCall. No later than two hours before the hearing, the moving party must e-file the papers and deliver a copy to Department 301 or 302. A request for a temporary restraining order, an alternative writ or a receiver has to be scheduled by email at least 24 hours ahead.
We time the physical delivery around that cutoff, so the department has the copy in hand before the hearing.
Civic Center or Bryant Street: Where the Package Goes
The court lists four locations. Civil, probate and family law work goes to the Civic Center Courthouse, 400 McAllister Street, while criminal and traffic matters are at the Hall of Justice, 850 Bryant Street. The Juvenile Justice Center handles juvenile cases.
Recorded documents go to City Hall across the plaza, Room 190. A package addressed to the wrong building is one of the most common reasons a run has to be repeated, so we confirm the destination from the case type first.

Frequently Asked Questions About Messenger Service in San Francisco
It depends on the route and the destination. A rush or on-demand run goes straight from your office to the destination with nothing else on it. Courthouse and office drops depend on business hours, so the earlier you book, the more room we have to meet the cutoff. Give us the pickup, the destination, and the deadline, and we tell you the realistic window before a driver rolls.
Yes to both. Courthouses, opposing counsel, and other law offices are regular stops on our daily runs. We drop packets at another firm, deliver courtesy copies to a judge’s department, and pick up stamped copies for your file. Tell us the destination and we confirm timing before a driver heads out.
Yes. Every delivery comes back with signed proof showing the recipient, the date, and the time. For confidential filings, checks, and exhibits, we also log custody at each handoff, so there is an unbroken record of who released the package and who received it.
The driver contacts us and we reach you for instructions. Depending on the job, that might mean waiting a short time, trying a second address, or returning the package to you with the attempt logged. Nothing is left at a door unattended, and confidential materials never change hands without a signature.
Yes. Retainer checks, settlement drafts, sealed records, and other sensitive items are a routine part of the work. They travel tracked from pickup to drop, with a signature required at each end and custody logged along the way. One call covers whatever a run needs to protect.
The whole City and County of San Francisco, from the Civic Center and the Financial District to the Hall of Justice on Bryant Street. If a destination sits outside your usual routes, ask anyway.
Yes. Firms with regular drops set up standing daily or weekly routes between their office, courthouses, and other frequent destinations, so recurring runs move on a set schedule without a new order each time. Tell us the stops and the cadence, and we build the route around them.
Yes. Oversized exhibits, trial boards, banker’s boxes, and full deposition transcripts are all part of the work. They ride flat and protected, and a driver hand-delivers them to the right destination inside your window. Tell us the size and the timing and we send the right vehicle.
Yes. Local Rule 2.7(B) requires paper courtesy copies of documents that need a judge’s review, action or signature to be delivered directly to the judge’s department, and Local Rule 8.2(b) applies the same step to law and motion filings. We deliver those copies to the right department.
It depends on the case number: Department 301 takes odd case numbers and Department 302 takes even ones, both at the Civic Center Courthouse, as the court’s Law & Motion and Discovery page explains.
The Civil Clerk’s Office in Room 103 is open Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., closed from noon to 1:00 p.m., when a drop box is available. We plan counter deliveries around those hours.
