Standing daily or weekly routes are available for recurring stops, including Coronado offices.

Messenger Service in San Diego, CA

Legal paper in San Diego rarely goes to just one building. A civil courtesy copy belongs at the Hall of Justice on West Broadway, a probate or family filing at the Central Courthouse on Union Street, a North County matter at the regional center in Vista, and a deed at the County Administration Center on Pacific Highway. Send a staffer to the wrong one, or arrive after the counter closes at 4:00 p.m., and a quick errand becomes a lost afternoon.

We collect from your office and plan the route before the driver sets out, choosing a standard, rush or scheduled run to fit the cutoff you give us. The package is tracked from pickup to drop, so at any point we can tell you where it is.

After the drop, the signed receipt comes back with the recipient’s name, the date and the time, and if a pickup changes, we let you know. The same team also serves and files papers, so one call can carry a San Diego matter from the courier run to the proof of service.

Messenger & Courier Services We Handle in San Diego

On-Call Legal moves the full range of legal materials across San Diego. Each job carries its own timing and handling needs, and we match the run to what the delivery calls for. Here is what we take off your desk:

Document Delivery

Collected at your office and carried to any address in San Diego County, whether it is one envelope or a full banker’s box.

Court & Courthouse Runs

Documents carried to the Hall of Justice, the Central Courthouse and the regional centers, including business office drop-offs and pickups of stamped copies for your file.

Attorney-to-Attorney Delivery

Correspondence, discovery and signature packets moved between offices downtown, in North County or across the bay in Coronado when timing is measured in hours.

Check & Retainer Pickup

Retainer checks and settlement drafts picked up and handed over against a signature at both ends; nothing is left at a door.

Exhibit & Deposition Delivery

Deposition transcripts, trial exhibits and bulky lodged materials carried flat and intact to the courtroom or office that needs them.

Scheduled Route Runs

Standing daily or weekly routes between your office, the downtown courthouses and regular stops, so recurring drops move without a new order each time.

Not sure how a run should go? Give us the pickup point and the destination, and we plan it and confirm the timing. Call us or order online to get started.

Why On-Call Legal for Messenger Service in San Diego

A San Diego courier run is judged on three things: whether the package reached the right person, whether it arrived before the counter closed, and whether there is a record to prove it. Our drivers carry documents on standard, rush or scheduled routes, every job is tracked from pickup to the signed drop, and confidential deliveries get a custody entry at each handoff. The office also serves and files papers, pulls records and prepares subpoenas anywhere in the county.

Rush legal courier in San Diego

Standard & Rush Pickup

Standard jobs ride the next scheduled route and rush moves to the front of the queue. San Diego court business offices close at 4:00 p.m., and many of their phone lines are answered only from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., so tell us the pickup, the destination and the cutoff, and we route a driver to meet it.

Rush and on-demand legal couriers

Rush & On-Demand Couriers

Some deliveries cannot wait for a route. An on-demand driver takes one package from your door to its destination with no other stops, which is how an ex parte packet, a retainer check or a trial exhibit reaches someone before a set time.

Countywide San Diego courier coverage

Countywide San Diego Coverage

Our drivers reach the whole county: the downtown courthouses, the North County Regional Center in Vista, the East County Regional Center in El Cajon, the South County Regional Center in Chula Vista, and the recorder’s offices in Santee, San Marcos and Chula Vista. Give us both ends of the trip and we confirm the route and the timing first.

Signed proof of delivery and real-time status

Signed Proof of Delivery

You see when the package is picked up, when it is on the way and when it is delivered. Once the drop is made, we return signed proof of delivery with the recipient’s name, the date and the time, your record that the materials reached the right office.

Documented chain of custody

Chain of Custody

Checks, exhibits and confidential filings are logged at every handoff: who released the package, who carried it and who signed for it at the other end. Sealed papers for a department stay in their labeled envelopes, unopened, from our hands to the clerk’s.

All-inclusive legal support services from OnCall Legal

Full Litigation Support

One vendor for the case: the drivers who carry your San Diego papers work alongside the team that serves process, files documents, pulls court records and prepares subpoenas.

Court & Attorney Service Runs

While the court works through a filing backlog after moving to a new case management system, it asks parties to provide courtesy copies of documents needed for upcoming hearings, such as stipulations, ex parte requests, oppositions and replies. We deliver those copies to the right department, hand packets to other firms and bring stamped copies back for your file.

    01

Hall of Justice or Central Courthouse: Where the Package Goes

Downtown San Diego has two main court buildings a few blocks apart. The Hall of Justice, 330 West Broadway, houses the civil Independent Calendar courtrooms, the Civil Business Office in Room 225 and the Small Claims Business Office. The Central Courthouse, 1100 Union Street, opened in late 2017 for criminal, probate, family, appeals and administration, according to the court’s locations page.

Two other destinations sit outside downtown: juvenile matters go to the Juvenile Court at 2851 Meadow Lark Drive, and traffic cases for the Central Division to Kearny Mesa, 8950 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. We confirm the building from the case type before a driver leaves.

    02

North County, East County and South County Runs

The North County Regional Center, 325 South Melrose Drive in Vista, is a full-service branch that hears civil, criminal, family and appeals matters for most of North County. The other two regional centers are narrower on the civil side.

In El Cajon, civil harassment and elder abuse restraining orders are filed at the Restraining Order Office on the first floor; in Chula Vista, those orders go to the Family Law Business Office on the third floor, and there is no longer a civil and small claims office there. Every other civil document from East or South County goes to the Hall of Justice, so that is where we take it.

    03

Recording Runs to the County Administration Center

Deeds, liens and other documents for recording go to the San Diego County Recorder/County Clerk at 1600 Pacific Highway, Suite 260, open weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with offices in Santee, Chula Vista and San Marcos as well. The recorder takes a document only for property in San Diego County, with the right fees and taxes, as its recording requirements state.

The first page must leave its top 2½ inches blank for recording information, signatures must be original, and the document should show who requested recording and where it goes afterward. We check those points before the run, since a rejected document means a second trip.

Frequently Asked Questions About Messenger Service in San Diego

Common questions from attorneys, paralegals, and legal staff about messenger and courier service in San Diego. If your situation isn’t covered, call (310) 858-9800 and the team will walk you through it.
How fast can a San Diego delivery be made?

It depends on distance and the destination’s hours. A rush or on-demand run goes straight from your office to the destination, while standard jobs ride the next route. Court business offices in San Diego are open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., so the earlier you book, the more room we have. Tell us where, where to and by when, and we give you a realistic window first.

Do you deliver to San Diego courthouses and other law firms?

Yes to both. The Hall of Justice, the Central Courthouse and the regional centers are regular stops, and so are opposing counsel and other law offices. Typical runs include courtesy copies for a judge’s department, packets for another firm and stamped copies picked up for your file.

Will I get proof that the delivery was made?

Yes. Each drop ends with a signed receipt naming the recipient, the date and the time. Confidential items also get a custody log, with a line for every handoff between pickup and delivery.

What happens if nobody is there to sign?

The driver calls in and we ask you how to proceed: wait, try another address, or bring the package back with the attempt noted. We never leave a delivery at an unattended door, and nothing confidential is handed over without a signature.

Can you carry checks and sealed records?

Yes. Retainer checks, settlement drafts and sealed records are ordinary cargo for us. Each one is signed for at pickup and at delivery, with custody noted in between.

What is your San Diego coverage area?

The whole county: downtown San Diego, North County around Vista, East County around El Cajon and South County through Chula Vista. If a destination sits outside your usual routes, ask anyway; countywide coverage is the point of the service.

Can we set up a standing route?

Yes. A firm with regular drops can book a fixed daily or weekly route covering its office, the downtown courthouses and its other usual stops, and those runs go out on schedule without a new order each time.

    Do you carry oversized exhibits?

Yes. Trial boards, banker’s boxes, oversized exhibits and full transcripts travel flat and protected, and the driver brings them to the courtroom or office inside your window. Tell us the size and we send a vehicle that fits.

Where do civil papers go in San Diego if the case is in East or South County?

To the Hall of Justice. For civil limited and unlimited cases, East and South County are part of the Central Division, and apart from civil harassment and elder abuse restraining orders, civil documents are filed at the Civil Business Office, 330 West Broadway, Room 225.

What is the ex parte notice deadline in San Diego civil cases?

Notice to the opposing party must be given by 10:00 a.m. the day before the ex parte hearing, and the hearing fee is paid at filing unless a fee waiver is on file. Reservations are made by calling the assigned Independent Calendar department, so we plan courtesy copy deliveries around that date.

When are San Diego court business offices open?

The Civil Business Office at the Hall of Justice and the North County business office in Vista are open 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays. Many business office phones are answered only from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
