Poorest example of legal process servers I’ve EVER seen in 30 years of legal work. On top of it they’re crooks and illegally charged my card without my permission. I had used when originally hiring them 5 months prior. If ZERO stars was an option I would have selected it!!

Quick answer
Oakland cases sit with Alameda County Superior Court, and we lodge your pleadings, motions and proposed orders there, then send back the stamped conformed copy. Before any motion goes in, we reserve the hearing and attach the Court Reservation System receipt, since the clerk rejects a motion without one. We're on the court's approved e-filing provider list, so electronic submissions use our own account.
Court Filing in Oakland, CA
Alameda County’s civil filing runs through eCourt, the system the court launched on October 12, 2021, and the paper side has narrowed around it. Local Rule 1.9(b) sends paper civil filings to two places only, Room 109 of the René C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland or the civil clerk’s office in Hayward, and the court repealed its fax filing rule effective November 15, 2024. A motion also needs its hearing reserved first, or the filing is rejected.
On-Call Legal files through a state-approved Electronic Filing Service Provider and on paper at the courthouse counter, and we pick the right channel before your document moves. Most represented parties now file electronically under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6, while exempt parties and certain document types still go on paper. We check the venue, the fee, and the format on our end, because catching a problem before submission costs minutes and catching it at the clerk’s window can cost a day.
Once the court accepts a filing, we return the file-stamped conformed copy. If a clerk rejects it, you hear the reason and the fix from us. Alongside filing, we also serve the documents you file, so a summons can be filed and served through one office. In Alameda County that means eCourt for represented parties under Local Rule 3.27, and Room 109 or Hayward for the documents that cannot be e-filed.
Alameda County Courthouses We File In
René C. Davidson Courthouse
Civil, appeals, criminal and mental health; the civil counter is in Room 109.
Administration Building
Civil departments 14 to 25; their clerk’s office is at René C. Davidson.
Hayward Hall of Justice
Civil, unlawful detainer, small claims and family law; Department 511 runs the master calendar.
Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse
One of the ten locations the court lists.
The team files at the civil counter in Room 109 of René C. Davidson, at the Hayward civil clerk’s office, and through eCourt. Cases heard in the Administration Building’s departments use the René C. Davidson clerk’s office. Our coverage runs across Alameda County.
Court Filing Services We Handle in Oakland
On-Call Legal files the full range of California civil documents. Each type carries its own fee, format, and timing rules, and we check all three before a filing leaves our hands. Here is what we take off your desk:
Complaints and Initiating Documents
Filed with the summons and any first-appearance fees the clerk collects, at the courthouse your case is assigned to. For represented parties that means eCourt, which Local Rule 3.27 has required in civil cases since January 1, 2022.
Motions, Oppositions, and Replies
Filed to hit the notice periods your hearing date depends on under Code of Civil Procedure section 1005. In Alameda the motion also carries its Court Reservation System receipt, or the e-filing is rejected.
Ex Parte Applications
Filed on short notice where timing is measured in hours rather than days. The hearing date comes from the courtroom itself, which does not take ex parte reservations through the portal.
Answers, Demurrers, and Cross-Complaints
Filed against a service-triggered response deadline so the clock starts clean. Each is uploaded as a searchable PDF, one lead document per filing, as the court’s eCourt tips require.
Proposed Orders, Stipulations, and Judgments
Submitted for the court to review and sign after filing. Courtesy copies go to the courtroom clerk by noon the court day after filing under Local Rule 3.30(c).
Physical Exhibits and Lodged Materials
Hand-delivered to the clerk when an e-filing portal will not accept them. Bonds, undertakings and the other items Local Rule 3.27(d) keeps out of e-filing go to Room 109 or Hayward on paper.
Why On-Call Legal for Court Filing in Oakland
Attorneys and paralegals hiring an Oakland filing service care about three things: getting the document to the right courthouse, meeting the format and fee rules, and hearing about a rejection in time to fix it. On-Call Legal files under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6 for electronic filing and follows each courthouse’s local rules for paper filings. We watch every submission to acceptance and flag a bounce when it comes up. Beyond court filing, the same office serves the documents you file, handles eFiling, retrieves records, prepares subpoenas, and runs messenger runs across Alameda County. On-Call Legal is also on the Alameda County Superior Court’s list of approved e-filing providers.
Rush Filing
Standard jobs go in at the next available window, and rush moves you ahead in the queue when an ex parte or other deadline is close. Under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6, an e-filing that reaches the court before midnight on a court day is deemed filed that day, so a deadline can still be met after the clerk’s counter closes. The civil counter at René C. Davidson is open in person Monday to Thursday until 3:00 p.m. and Friday until 2:00 p.m., with a drop box until 4:00 p.m.
eFiling Through Approved Providers
The Alameda County Superior Court does not accept e-filings directly. Under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6 you file through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider, and represented parties must file most civil documents this way. We file through an approved EFSP, formatted the way the portal expects and paired with the fee the document type requires. On-Call Legal is itself on the court’s list of approved e-filing service providers, so e-filings go through our own account.
Oakland and Hayward Counters Covered
Paper civil filings go to Room 109 at René C. Davidson or to the civil clerk’s office at the Hayward Hall of Justice, under Local Rule 1.9(b). Unlawful detainer law and motion is heard in Hayward’s Department 511. We confirm the counter and department from the case number before the document moves.
Real-Time Filing Status and Conformed Copies
You see when the document is submitted, when the court accepts it, and when a clerk flags a problem. Once the filing is accepted, we return the file-stamped conformed copy that proves it is in. If a courtroom wants a paper courtesy copy in chambers, we deliver that too. The court aims to review e-filings within three business days, and many civil records can also be viewed on the eCourt Public Portal.
Rejection Handling and Corrections
Most rejections trace back to a short list: a missing or unsigned signature block, a proposed order not attached as its own document, a fee that does not match the document, or a PDF that is not text-searchable. We check for those before a filing leaves our hands, and if the clerk still bounces it, you hear the reason and the fix. Alameda’s own filing tips add that even a typo can mean rejection, and a motion without its reservation receipt is rejected too.
Full Litigation Support
One office for the whole job. Alongside court filing we serve the documents you file, handle eFiling, retrieve court records, prepare subpoenas, and run messenger service across Alameda County.

Courtesy Copies and Filing Confirmation
Some Alameda County judges want a paper courtesy copy delivered to chambers even after a motion is e-filed. When your courtroom requires it, we deliver the courtesy copy. And once the court accepts your filing, we return the file-stamped conformed copy so you have proof on record. Local Rule 3.30(c) sets the timing: by noon the court day after filing, or on the filing day itself when the hearing is two court days away or less.
Reserving the Hearing Before the Motion Is Filed
Alameda County requires represented parties to reserve law and motion dates on the court’s portal through the Court Reservation System, under Local Rule 3.30(b), and the e-filing must include the reservation receipt or it is rejected. Law and motion and ex parte matters in a direct calendar case are heard in the assigned department, as the court’s rulings and motions page explains.
Ex parte reservations work differently: they come from the courtroom and cannot be made on the portal. In Hayward’s Department 511, the general civil master calendar, law and motion runs Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Tentative Rulings and the 4:00 p.m. Deadlines
Under Local Rule 3.30(d), tentative rulings are generally available by 4:00 p.m. two court days before the hearing, and a party who wants to contest one must give notice by 4:00 p.m. one court day before, through the portal, as the court’s tentative rulings page explains.
We track those dates with your filing calendar, so a reply or a courtesy copy lands before the ruling is posted rather than after.
Counter Hours, the Drop Box and Court Runner Appointments
The civil counter at René C. Davidson is open in person Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; the drop box takes filings from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., or 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays, according to the court’s courthouse page. Court runners may also book appointment times for René C. Davidson filings online.
Hayward’s civil counter keeps the same schedule. We plan paper runs around those windows so a filing does not miss the day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Court Filing in Oakland
For e-filings, a document received by the court before 11:59:59 p.m. on a court day is deemed filed that day under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6, so a deadline can still be met after the clerk’s counter closes. Paper filings have to reach the courthouse window during business hours, so send those as early as you can. In Alameda County, the civil counter takes paper in person Monday to Thursday until 3:00 p.m. and Friday until 2:00 p.m., and the drop box until 4:00 p.m.
For represented parties in civil cases, yes. Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6 and Alameda County’s Local Rule 3.27 require represented parties to file civil documents electronically, and have since January 1, 2022. Self-represented litigants may still file on paper, and a party can ask the court for an exemption on form EFS-007. We file both ways and tell you which applies.
At the René C. Davidson Courthouse, Room 109, 1225 Fallon Street, Oakland, or at the civil clerk’s office in the Hayward Hall of Justice, 24405 Amador Street, under Local Rule 1.9(b). Filing in the wrong place is a common cause of rejection, so give us the case number and we confirm the counter and department before filing.
Clerks reject filings for a missing signature, a fee that does not match the document, formatting that breaks the rules, or the wrong venue. When that happens, we contact you with the reason and the correction, then refile as soon as it is fixed. Because we submit early rather than at the deadline, there is usually time to correct and refile. Alameda’s own tips warn that even a typo can cause a rejection.
Yes. We file electronically through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider, and we file on paper at the courthouse counter when a document has to go that way, whether the filer is exempt, an exhibit is oversized, or the portal will not take the document. One call covers whichever route your document needs. In Alameda the paper route is Room 109 or Hayward; fax filing ended when Local Rule 1.8 was repealed on November 15, 2024.
A conformed copy is your document stamped with the court’s file date once the clerk accepts it, and it is your proof the filing is on record. We return the conformed copy after acceptance. If your courtroom also wants a paper courtesy copy in chambers, we deliver that as well. For drop-box or mailed filings, Local Rule 1.9(i) returns copies by mail with a postage-paid envelope, and many are on the eCourt Public Portal.
Motion notice periods run off the filing and service date under Code of Civil Procedure section 1005, and when you serve by mail, section 1013 extends the other side’s response window based on the mailing date. Tell us your hearing date and we work the filing backward from it, then flag any window that looks too tight before we submit. In Alameda the hearing is reserved first through the Court Reservation System under Local Rule 3.30(b), and the receipt goes in with the motion.
Yes. When an exhibit is oversized or a document type is one the e-filing portal will not accept, we file it on paper at the correct courthouse and get it to the clerk inside that day’s window. If a case qualifies for a fee waiver, tell us and we file the waiver request alongside the document. Items Local Rule 3.27(d) keeps out of e-filing, such as bonds and undertakings, are filed at Room 109 or in Hayward.
Yes. On-Call Legal appears on the Alameda County Superior Court’s published list of approved e-filing service providers, so we submit e-filings directly.
Under Local Rule 3.30(c), by noon the court day after the paper is filed, delivered to the courtroom clerk, or the same day when the hearing is two court days away or less. The rule also applies to e-filed papers.
In Department 511 at the Hayward Hall of Justice, the general civil master calendar, where law and motion runs Monday and Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., and ex parte matters Monday and Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. and Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
Court Filing Articles for Oakland Cases
I had an exceptional experience with On-Call Legal Process Servers. They were incredibly reliable and efficient, especially when I needed rush service over the weekend. Their website was very user-friendly, providing clear fee information, and their outstanding customer service further boosted my confidence in their services, which made them an easy choice out of the many process server companies I looked into. Thanks to their prompt delivery, the served party contacted me shortly afterward to settle the case. Given their extensive coverage beyond Los Angeles, I plan to use them again soon for a small claims case in Riverside County.
I had to file a Writ of Review with the California Court of Appeal. I contact several services for assistances most were not interested and others didn't provide the services I needed. I called On-Call Legal Process Servers and spoke to one of their staff. The staff member gave me a list of services they provide everything from a small claims court, to Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court. They will assist you in the filing all court documents and proof of service. To get start with On-Call Legal Process Servers and more an account has to be opened online. Before charges can be posted to the account an Email is sent out listing the proposed charges. The staff returns Email questions and orders during their normal business hours during the same day. On-Call Legal Process Servers file the writ for me and obtain the filing court's case number.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to On-Call Legal through a family friend for services of process. Not only were the owners Brandon & David incredibly kind, but their process servers were professional, fast and affordable. I would use them again and would recommend them to anyone.
On-Call was absolutely AMAZING! Our trial team at Brown Goldstein & Levy flew into LA for a USDC trial from Baltimore. From first contact, On-Call was professional, prompt & handled everything we threw at them from exhibit binders for the Court and parties, to delivery to Court to meet our 8:30 am filing deadline! David A & his team handled everything! Looking forward to working with them again!
