Poorest example of legal process servers I’ve EVER seen in 30 years of legal work. On top of it they’re crooks and illegally charged my card without my permission. I had used when originally hiring them 5 months prior. If ZERO stars was an option I would have selected it!!

Quick answer
We submit Los Angeles filings electronically and check venue, fee and PDF text layer first, since any of those can get a document rejected. Anything the court accepts before midnight on a court day counts as filed that day. Proposed orders are uploaded as both PDF and Word, and you receive the stamped copy after acceptance.
eFiling in Los Angeles, CA
Los Angeles County runs the largest trial court in the country, and its civil filings are spread across more than 30 courthouses by district and case type. Almost every represented party files electronically now, and the portal is exacting. A motion meant for Stanley Mosk gets routed to Spring Street; a fee comes up short by one motion; a PDF uploads without a text layer. Any of those is enough for a clerk to reject the e-filing, and the clerk does not have to warn you before your deadline runs. The court operates 36 courthouses in 12 judicial districts.
On-Call Legal files through a state-approved Electronic Filing Service Provider under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6 and California Rules of Court 2.253, and we handle the portal formatting before your document moves. Represented parties must file most civil documents electronically; self-represented and exempt filers can still use paper, and a handful of document types the portal rejects go to the counter. We check the venue, the fee, and the format on our end, because catching a problem before submission costs minutes and catching it after a rejection can cost a day.
Once the court accepts a filing, we return the file-stamped conformed copy. If a clerk rejects it, you hear the reason and the fix from us. Alongside filing, we also serve the documents you file, so a summons can be filed and served through one office. In Los Angeles the rule is LASC Local Rule 3.4, amended effective January 1, 2026.
Los Angeles Courts We eFile In
Stanley Mosk Courthouse
Civil, family, probate, small claims and unlawful detainer; the Civil Filing Window is Room 102.
Spring Street Courthouse
Civil, including complex cases; non-electronic complex filings go to Room 255.
Gov. George Deukmejian Courthouse
Civil and other divisions; the civil clerk is in Room 1401.
Van Nuys Courthouse East
The civil clerk’s office for unlimited civil is Room 107.
The team e-files in limited, unlimited and complex civil cases through approved providers, and takes exempt documents to the civil clerk’s office of the assigned courthouse. Our coverage runs countywide.
eFiling Services We Handle in Los Angeles
On-Call Legal e-files the full range of California civil documents. Each type carries its own fee, portal format, and timing rules, and we check all three before a filing leaves our hands. Here is what we take off your desk:
Complaints and Initiating Documents
Filed with the summons and any first-appearance fees the clerk collects, at the courthouse your case is assigned to. Limited civil cases have been e-filed since December 3, 2018, and non-complex unlimited cases since January 2, 2019.
Motions, Oppositions, and Replies
Filed to hit the notice periods your hearing date depends on under Code of Civil Procedure section 1005. Each motion needs a Court Reservation System reservation, and the court cancels it if the motion is not submitted within three business days.
Ex Parte Applications
Filed on short notice where timing is measured in hours rather than days. Under Local Rule 3.4(l), they are e-filed by 10:00 a.m. the court day before the hearing.
Answers, Demurrers, and Cross-Complaints
Filed against a service-triggered response deadline so the clock starts clean. Local Rule 3.4(f) asks for text-searchable PDFs, with the table of contents bookmarked.
Proposed Orders, Stipulations, and Judgments
Uploaded as their own separate PDF, the way the portal requires, for the court to review and sign after filing. Los Angeles requires proposed orders in both PDF and Word versions.
Physical Exhibits and Lodged Materials
Hand-delivered to the clerk when an e-filing portal will not accept them. Local Rule 3.4(b) keeps trial exhibits, bonds, undertakings and documents lodged conditionally under seal out of e-filing.
Why On-Call Legal for eFiling in LA
Attorneys and paralegals hiring a Los Angeles eFiling service care about three things: getting the document to the right courthouse, meeting the portal’s format and fee rules, and hearing about a rejection in time to fix it. On-Call Legal e-files under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6 and California Rules of Court 2.250 through 2.261, and we follow each courthouse’s local formatting rules. We watch every submission to acceptance and flag a bounce when it comes up. Beyond eFiling, the same office serves the documents you file, retrieves records, prepares subpoenas, and runs messenger runs across Los Angeles. On-Call Legal is on the court’s list of approved civil e-filing providers.
Electronic Submission Deadlines
Standard jobs go in at the next available window, and rush moves you ahead in the queue when an ex parte or other deadline is close. Under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6, an e-filing that reaches the court before midnight on a court day is deemed filed that day, so a deadline can still be met after the clerk’s counter closes. Under Local Rule 3.4(g), that midnight rule applies if the court accepts the filing.
eFiling Through Approved Providers
The Los Angeles Superior Court does not accept e-filings directly. Under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6 you file through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider, and represented parties must file most civil documents this way. We file through an approved EFSP, formatted the way the portal expects and paired with the fee the document type requires. On-Call Legal appears on the court’s list of approved civil providers.
All LA Courts Covered
We file at more than 30 civil courthouses across Los Angeles County, including Stanley Mosk, Spring Street, Van Nuys, Santa Monica, the Governor George Deukmejian Courthouse in Long Beach, Norwalk, and Pomona. The court assigns cases by district and case type, so we confirm the venue from your case number or district before the document reaches the clerk. Writs and abstracts must be submitted in a separate electronic envelope under Local Rule 3.4(f).
Conformed Copies Returned
You see when the document is submitted, when the court accepts it, and when a clerk flags a problem. Once the filing is accepted, we return the file-stamped conformed copy that proves it is in. If a courtroom wants a paper courtesy copy in chambers, we deliver that too. The court attempts to confirm e-filings within two business days.
Formatting & Rejection Prevention
Most rejections trace back to a short list: a missing or unsigned signature block, a proposed order not attached as its own document, a fee that does not match the document, or a PDF that is not text-searchable. We check for those before a filing leaves our hands, and if the clerk still bounces it, you hear the reason and the fix. The court’s rejection report puts the average civil rejection rate at 8.9%; its tips list a filing sent to the wrong courthouse and a motion without a Court Reservation System reservation among the top reasons.
Full Litigation Support
One office for the whole job. Alongside eFiling we serve the documents you file, retrieve court records, prepare subpoenas, and run messenger service across Los Angeles.

Courtesy Copies to Chambers
Some Los Angeles judges want a paper courtesy copy delivered to chambers even after a motion is e-filed. When your courtroom requires it, we deliver the courtesy copy. And once the court accepts your filing, we return the file-stamped conformed copy so you have proof on record. The court’s e-filing FAQ sets the timing: for a hearing two days away or less, by 4:30 p.m. the same business day, or by 10:00 a.m. the next business day if e-filed after 4:30.
Local Rule 3.4: What Los Angeles Requires
LASC Local Rule 3.4, amended effective January 1, 2026, mandates electronic filing of all documents in all civil case types by litigants represented by attorneys, through an approved electronic filing service provider, as the court’s local rules state. Limited civil went first, on December 3, 2018, then non-complex unlimited cases on January 2, 2019; complex civil has its own general order.
Rule 3.4(f) sets the format: text-searchable PDF where feasible, proposed orders in both PDF and Word, bookmarked tables of contents and exhibits, and writs and abstracts in a separate envelope.
What Cannot Be E-Filed in Los Angeles
Local Rule 3.4(b) keeps a short list on paper: peremptory challenges under sections 170.6 and 170.3, bonds and undertakings, trial and evidentiary hearing exhibits, ex parte applications filed with a new complaint, and documents submitted conditionally under seal.
Those go to the Civil Division clerk’s office of the assigned courthouse between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or by mail. Self-represented litigants are exempt from e-filing under Rule 3.4(c).
Fees and Confirmation Times
The court’s 2026 fee schedule adds a $2.25 e-filing service fee, and providers charge their own fees on top, as the court’s civil e-filing FAQ notes. A motion requiring a hearing is $60 and a summary judgment motion is $500.
The court attempts to confirm the filing or receipt of documents within two business days. We follow each submission to confirmation and send you the conformed copy.

Frequently Asked Questions About eFiling in Los Angeles
For e-filings, a document received by the court before 11:59:59 p.m. on a court day is deemed filed that day under Code of Civil Procedure section 1010.6, so a deadline can still be met after the clerk’s counter closes. Paper filings have to reach the courthouse window during business hours, so send those as early as you can. Local Rule 3.4(g) applies the same midnight rule to documents the court accepts.
For represented parties, yes. LASC Local Rule 3.4 requires litigants represented by attorneys to e-file all documents in all civil case types through an approved provider. Self-represented litigants may still file on paper, and a represented party can apply to Department 1 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse for an exemption on forms EFS-007 and EFS-008. We file both ways and tell you which applies.
The Los Angeles Superior Court assigns civil cases to courthouses by district and case type, and filing in the wrong one is a common cause of rejection. Give us the case number, the parties, or the district, and we confirm the correct venue before filing. The court operates 36 courthouses in 12 judicial districts, and the tips list the wrong courthouse as a top rejection reason.
Clerks reject filings for a missing signature, a fee that does not match the document, formatting that breaks the rules, or the wrong venue. When that happens, we contact you with the reason and the correction, then refile as soon as it is fixed. Because we submit early rather than at the deadline, there is usually time to correct and refile. The court’s rejection report puts the average civil rejection rate at 8.9%.
Yes. We file electronically through an approved Electronic Filing Service Provider, and we file on paper at the courthouse counter when a document has to go that way, whether the filer is exempt, an exhibit is oversized, or the portal will not take the document. One call covers whichever route your document needs. Fax filing is not an option: it ended on November 14, 2022.
A conformed copy is your document stamped with the court’s file date once the clerk accepts it, and it is your proof the filing is on record. We return the conformed copy after acceptance. If your courtroom also wants a paper courtesy copy in chambers, we deliver that as well. The court attempts to confirm e-filings within two business days.
Motion notice periods run off the filing and service date under Code of Civil Procedure section 1005, and when you serve by mail, section 1013 extends the other side’s response window based on the mailing date. Tell us your hearing date and we work the filing backward from it, then flag any window that looks too tight before we submit. Each motion also needs a Court Reservation System reservation, submitted within three business days.
Yes. When an exhibit is oversized or a document type is one the e-filing portal will not accept, we file it on paper at the correct courthouse and get it to the clerk inside that day’s window. If a case qualifies for a fee waiver, tell us and we file the waiver request alongside the document. Local Rule 3.4(b) lists trial and evidentiary hearing exhibits among the items that are not e-filed.
Yes. On-Call Legal appears on the Los Angeles Superior Court’s list of approved civil e-filing service providers.
Yes. Local Rule 3.4(f) requires proposed orders to be submitted in both PDF and Word versions.
A represented party applies to Department 1 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse on forms EFS-007 and EFS-008, showing undue hardship or significant prejudice.
eFiling Articles for Los Angeles Cases
I had an exceptional experience with On-Call Legal Process Servers. They were incredibly reliable and efficient, especially when I needed rush service over the weekend. Their website was very user-friendly, providing clear fee information, and their outstanding customer service further boosted my confidence in their services, which made them an easy choice out of the many process server companies I looked into. Thanks to their prompt delivery, the served party contacted me shortly afterward to settle the case. Given their extensive coverage beyond Los Angeles, I plan to use them again soon for a small claims case in Riverside County.
I had to file a Writ of Review with the California Court of Appeal. I contact several services for assistances most were not interested and others didn't provide the services I needed. I called On-Call Legal Process Servers and spoke to one of their staff. The staff member gave me a list of services they provide everything from a small claims court, to Court of Appeal to the Supreme Court. They will assist you in the filing all court documents and proof of service. To get start with On-Call Legal Process Servers and more an account has to be opened online. Before charges can be posted to the account an Email is sent out listing the proposed charges. The staff returns Email questions and orders during their normal business hours during the same day. On-Call Legal Process Servers file the writ for me and obtain the filing court's case number.
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to On-Call Legal through a family friend for services of process. Not only were the owners Brandon & David incredibly kind, but their process servers were professional, fast and affordable. I would use them again and would recommend them to anyone.
On-Call was absolutely AMAZING! Our trial team at Brown Goldstein & Levy flew into LA for a USDC trial from Baltimore. From first contact, On-Call was professional, prompt & handled everything we threw at them from exhibit binders for the Court and parties, to delivery to Court to meet our 8:30 am filing deadline! David A & his team handled everything! Looking forward to working with them again!
